Bailey's Irish Cream Chocolate Martini
This is one of the best Valentine’s Day Cocktails of all time… no big deal.
Chocolate is a must on Valentine’s Day. If you would rather drink your chocolate, you’ve got to try my Bailey’s Irish Cream chocolate martini. On the other hand, it’s almost too pretty to drink. You can impress your sweetheart, too, with just a swirl of chocolate ganache. I’ll teach you how to make it at home, but you can use store-bought chocolate sauce in a pinch.
Valentine’s Day tastes good… your Valentine’s Day drink should, too.
Lots of chefs say, “You eat with your eyes first,” and it’s true that presentation is important. But what good is it if the stuff inside doesn’t taste good? I don’t stop at vodka on the inside of this pretty little glass—I go all out on Valentine’s Day. A dash of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur and a splash of Bailey's Irish Cream really sends this one over the top!
Add a Valentine’s Day dessert and you're all set!
If all that wasn’t sweet enough for you and your sweetheart, serve your martinis with a side of my Raspberry-Filled Linzer Cookies. They’re the perfect complement to this exquisite Valentine’s Day cocktail. You can even bake them in advance and pop them in the freezer for your special day. Just remember to use a heart shaped cookie cutter!
Tips for the perfect Chocolate Martini for Valentine’s Day:
Shaken or stirred? That’s up to the bartender—in this case, you! This martini is sweeter than a traditional one, so I like to serve it extra cold and with a milkshake-like consistency. Here’s how: Give your ingredients a good shake in an ice-packed cocktail shaker and strain into your pre-decorated glasses.
This recipe makes two martinis: just enough for you and your sweetie!
Valentine’s Day Bailey's Irish Cream Chocolate Martini Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
- 5 ounces bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 4 ounces vodka
- 4 ounces Bailey's Irish Cream liqueur
- 4 ounces chocolate liqueur (I favor Godiva brand but crème de cacao works will too)
- 1 cup ice
- Shaved bittersweet chocolate, optional garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the chocolate ganache. Place the finely chopped chocolate in a heat-resistant bowl. Place the cream in a sauce pot and bring to a boil on medium heat. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and stir until smooth. Allow the ganache to cool slightly before preparing the glasses. Transfer the ganache into a plastic squeeze bottle.
- Prepare the martini glasses. Holding the glass in one hand and the ganache-filled tube in the other, squeeze the chocolate into the glass, turning the glass as you go to create a swirl. Place the glasses in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Combine all the drink ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Add the ice and shake until chilled. Strain into the prepared glasses. Garnish with shaved chocolate.
