This super easy pasta is absolutely bursting with flavor. And who doesn’t love a bright, delicious, homemade pasta dish on a beautiful spring day? The secret ingredient is my scratch-made Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto recipe that you’ll use as a topping. Yep, you’re making pesto, too! Sun-dried tomatoes coupled with fresh basil… Well, that’s a flavor profile that blends greatly with any cooked pasta of your choice.
The other secret ingredient in this easy pasta recipe is burrata. I top the finished pasta with burrata cheese. Never had burrata? It’s a soft, fresh mozzarella with a creamy center. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
Depending on what type of burrata you purchase, you may have several smaller balls or one large ball. The small cheese balls can simply be placed on top of your plated pasta. You may prefer to cut the larger ball into pieces, but make sure not to lose any of the creamy filling!
I recommend serving this dish at room temperature—that makes it a burrata pasta salad recipe, not just pasta. However, you can also serve it as soon as it’s ready if you like. It’s delicious both ways!

Easy Burrata Pasta with Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto
Ingredients
- 8 ounces of your favorite dried pasta
- ⅔ cup sun-dried tomato pesto
- One 8-ounce container of burrata
- ¼ cup thinly sliced fresh basil plus 1 nice sprig for garnish
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 sprigs of fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 2 teaspoons of salt to the boiling water, then add the dried pasta. Cook until the pasta is al dente (still slightly firm to the bite). Set aside ¼ cup of the pasta water, then drain the rest. Place the cooked pasta back into the pot used to cook the noodles. You will use this pot to toss the pasta with the other ingredients.
- Add the sun-dried tomato pesto and fresh basil to the cooked pasta. Add just enough of the reserved pasta water to loosen the pesto so it lightly coats the pasta. You may not need all of the pasta water.
- Transfer the pasta into individual serving bowls or a large serving platter. Top with the fresh burrata and garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil sprigs. This pasta can be served immediately or at room temperature.
