I love to surprise my family with a new cocktail when we are gathered around the table ready to play board games. When I brought out a pitcher of this Midsummer Dream cognac cocktail, it was such a hit that we ended up making a second batch. My favorite part of this drink is its notes of citrus, nuts, caramel, and spices. This is honestly one of the best cognac cocktail recipes I’ve ever had—and everyone else who’s tried it would agree!

Why is it called the Midsummer Dream?

My Midsummer Dream cocktail is named after a popular play by William Shakespeare. A comedic play full of love potions, fairies and an enchanting forest. How does a cocktail live up to that? Well, this one does! With its subtle yet bold flavors and its intoxicating aroma, my Midsummer Dream Cocktail recipe enchants and invites you in. Its beautiful, edible flower garnish is a nod to the flower the character Puck uses for his love potion in the play.

I chose cognac as my cocktail base because of its sweet, spicy and fruity notes, which are balanced out with a slight bitterness. I chose to bring out the fruity note with a generous splash of lime juice. Orange bitters fits perfectly into this little “love potion” because it amplifies the flavors of fruit and spice even more. We may not have an enchanted forest in to toast in, but if you ask me, a beautiful garden will do just fine!

Cognac is more than just a sipping spirit; it’s a versatile ingredient that can elevate any drink. Cognac, a type of brandy from France, brings a complex blend of flavors to this cocktail. With a base of Maison Rouge Cognac, this Midsummer Dream cocktail includes coconut water for a hint of tropical flair, fresh lime juice for a zesty kick, and tonic water to add a refreshing fizz. A couple of dashes of orange bitters deepen the flavor profile, making each sip a delightful experience.

Cognac: A Flavorful Addition to Your Recipes

Cognac adds delicious layers of flavor to various kinds of dishes and drinks. It’s not just for sipping! In fact, this flavorful spirit makes an appearance in my homemade vanilla extract recipe. It gives the vanilla a rich, smooth flavor with notes of caramelized fruit and spice. And believe it or not, making your own homemade vanilla extract is fun and easy! It’s a wonderful way to add a personal touch to your baking. My artisanal pure vanilla extract is crafted with Madagascar vanilla beans and aged in wooden cognac barrels for 30 days, resulting in a smooth, rich flavor profile that can elevate any recipe.
