Homemade Cajun Seasoning
Making your own seasoning blends is so much fun. It’s a great way to create unique spice and herb mixtures you can tuck away in your pantry and enjoy again and again. One of my favorite homemade seasoning recipes is this easy-to-make homemade Cajun seasoning recipe. From jambalaya to roasted cauliflower and simple morning omelets, this delicious homemade Cajun seasoning can’t be beat!

What is Cajun seasoning and where does it come from?
Cajun seasoning is a spice blend with a rustic flavor profile that hails from Louisiana. You can trace its inspirations back to French Provençal and Spanish flavors. Lots of folks have their own favorite blends, and you’re welcome to make my recipe your own by adding your own favorite spices and herbs!
What is Cajun seasoning used on?
Cajun seasoning is normally used for Cajun cooking, of course! I always use it in my easy one pot jambalaya recipe. I also love sprinkling it over some roasted cauliflower, or on my morning omelette for a little kick. But Cajun seasoning is even more versatile than that—it goes great with proteins like chicken, fish, and shrimp; and it’s delicious in stews and rice dishes. I’ve even seen Cajun flavored kettle corn! Yum!
How to Make Homemade Cajun Seasoning
Though you can easily make your Cajun seasoning blend in a bowl and use a whisk to combine the ingredients, I like to throw everything in a food processor or spice grinder and give it a quick pulse or two. This method ensures that all the spices—especially the dried herb leaves—are evenly ground and distributed. See the full recipe below for the rest of the instructions!

How long does homemade Cajun seasoning last?
You can use your Homemade Cajun seasoning mix immediately or you can store it in a sealed glass jar in your pantry where it will keep for up to a year! Just don’t forget to label it and add the date so that you know exactly how long it’s been in there.
