Limoncello Margarita
This frosty limoncello cocktail recipe is perfect for celebrations—you might want to tuck this one away for Cinco de Mayo! This one adds a taste (literally) of my Italian heritage in the form of a wonderful family recipe: Erik and Tracy’s Homemade Limoncello. I love any cocktail that uses homemade limoncello, so I like to make a giant batch every spring when lemons are abundant.
Italian and Mexican Fusion makes a Great Cocktail Recipe
Limoncello is wonderful as a digestif, with a splash of Prosecco, or blended with tequila for this frosty margarita. This is what food fusion looks like at its finest—a vibrant combo of Italian and Mexican ingredients that everyone is sure to love (grown-ups only, of course).

This recipe makes about two drinks, but it can easily be doubled if you’re mixing for a crowd. Just make sure you don’t overfill your blender for its capacity. The essence of sun-kissed lemons and a spirited kick of tequila… I’ll raise a glass to that!

Limoncello Margarita Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 ounces of your favorite tequila
- 2 ounces Erik and Tracy’s Homemade Limoncello
- 2 ounces triple sec
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- 2 cups ice
- 2 lime or lemon wedges
- Kosher salt for the rim of your margarita glass
- 2 rounds of fresh lime or lemon
Instructions
- Place the salt in a small saucer. Take the lime or lemon wedge and go around the rim of your cocktail glass to moisten the edge. Dip the glass into the salt and shake off excess. Repeat with your second glass. I like to have my glasses all prepped and ready to go before I make the cocktail.
- In a blender canister, combine the tequila, limoncello triple sec, lime juice, and ice. Blend for 45 seconds to combine. The mixture should be the consistency of a slushy.
- Immediately pour into the salt-rimmed glasses. Garnish each with a fresh round of lemon or lime.
